STAR Atlas:PRO™ new variable stars

The Hipparcos Catalogue includes over 11,500 Variable Stars. Almost 5,000 of these 11,500 Variable Stars are New Variable Stars. You can list 951 New Periodic Variable Stars and 4,086 New Unsolved Variable Stars, along with detailed information on each and every one of these new Variable Stars. The information provided, gives amateur astronomers the information required for detailed observations of these new Variable Stars.

Each list of Hipparcos Periodic and Hipparcos Unsolved Variable Stars can both be accessed from the Astronomical Catalogues Menu. You can browse or search these catalogues, and add any of these Variable Stars to the Observation Planner, and of course draw star charts of each Variable Star's location. You also have the ability to search both the Hipparcos Periodic and Hipparcos Unsolved Variable Star lists for Variable Stars that exhibit certain criteria.

The criteria for Variable Star Selection may include, Display only NEW Variable Stars or Display ALL Variable Stars and/or, Display Variable Star's that have a Period that falls within a specified range, and/or Display Variable Star's than have Min. and Max. Magnitudes within a specified range, and/or List by Constellation Order or Hipparcos Order. This allows the user to look for New or Existing Variable Stars that fall within a certain Magnitude, and/or a certain Period, and/or a certain Constellation.
