The Norma nebula
This picture reveals part of the vast nebula complex NGC 6188
(RCW 108) situated in the
southern constellation
of Norma. The entire
nebula covers a large area of the sky more than 3°
wide while this image is less than 1°
wide. The bright star, at centre-right, is SAO 227049 (Visual Magnitude 5.6)
located in the star cluster NGC 6193.
