The Lambda Centauri Nebula - IC 2944
Also known as the Running Chicken Nebula,
and by its catalogue name IC 2944, this is a star forming nebula
found 5,900 light years away in the constellation of Centaurus. Small dark nebula which appear
scattered near the two brightest stars at centre-right are known as Bok
Objects or Thackaray Globules, these are areas if opaque nebula silhouetted against
the glow of background nebula.
