Upgrade Instructions
STAR Atlas:PRO Version 6.1 is available as a free upgrade to all STAR Atlas:PRO™
Registered Users providing that you agree to the Software License Terms and
Conditions supplied with your copy of STAR Atlas:PRO™.
By proceeding to download
and install this Upgrade you acknowledge your re-acceptance of the Software
License Terms and Conditions under which this Upgrade is provided to you.
Checks to perform prior to installing the Upgrade.
1. This
Upgrade requires you have STAR Atlas:PRO™ Version 6.0 already installed on your
computer.
2. Make sure
you are not running STAR Atlas:PRO™ when installing the new update.
3. The Update Package that you will download is a Winzip compressed file.
It
requires Winzip be installed
on your computer. Winzip permits you to extract the new STAR Atlas:PRO™ upgrade from the
download.
What
Does the Upgrade Package contain ?
The Upgrade
Package is a WinZip compressed file that contains a new program file named STAR_AtlasPRO.exe.
How big
is the download ?
Version 6.1 Download: STAR_AtlasPRO_V6_1.zip
(File Size: 4,174,264 bytes, approx. 4.1 Megabytes)
How to Download &
Install the Upgrade.
Installing the upgrade involves
extracting the new STAR Atlas:PRO™ program file from the download, and then
storing it in the same location on your computer where you have installed STAR Atlas:PRO™
(default location is C:\STARPRO ).
1.
Download the V6.1 upgrade from
http://www.skylab.com.au/downloads/STAR_AtlasPRO_V6 1.zip
and save it to a temporary location on your computer.
2. After the download is complete,
Extract* the compressed file
from the upgrade package and store it into the same folder where STAR
Atlas:PRO™ is installed on your computer (by default STAR Atlas:PRO™ is located
in the C:\STARPRO folder on your computer).
You will be asked by Winzip if you wish to overwrite the existing copy
of the STAR_AtlasPRO.exe file, answer [Yes], so that you replace the
existing
program file with the new one from the upgrade.
*If you have Winzip installed on your computer, this will require that you open
the upgrade package using Winzip. Then choose Extract from the Winzip menu, then
select the folder where you have installed STAR Atlas:PRO™, Winzip will
extract the new software update.
3. The upgrade
is now installed. Start STAR Atlas:PRO™ and you will be asked if you wish to
run the upgrade, answer Yes and the upgrade will then proceed. The upgrade will
take up to several minutes to complete. Do not interrupt the upgrade
process. When the upgrade is completed, STAR Atlas:PRO™ will return you
to Windows®.
4. Start STAR
Atlas:PRO™ again, this time it will run normally, check Version 6.1 is displayed in
the program title bar.
5. Welcome
to STAR Atlas:PRO™ Version 6.1.

recommended that you read Version 6.1 Release Notes.
Configuring the
new Manual for
STAR
Atlas:PRO™.
To setup STAR
Atlas:PRO™ with the new User Manual, follow this procedure.
7. locate the
folder called HELP, found in the folder where you installed STAR Atlas:PRO™
(normally the C:\STARPRO\HELP folder).
8. copy the
STAR Atlas:PRO™ User Manual
STAR_AtlasPRO_Manual.pdf
in to the C:\STARPRO\HELP folder.
9. Start STAR
Atlas:PRO™.
10. Choose the
[Chart Prefs] command from the main menu.
11. Choose the
[Settings & Configuration] command.
12. Choose the
File Locations tab.
13. Set the
new PDF File Viewer Program setting to the program name of the
Adobe® Acrobat Reader installed on your computer. Normally this will be
"C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 5.0\Acrobat\Acrobat.exe" or similar. You can
use the [...] button, that appears directly to the right of the
PDF File Viewer Program setting, to navigate your way to the location of
Adobe® Acrobat Reader program on your computer.
14. Close all windows and
return to the
STAR Atlas:PRO™ chart desktop.
15. Choose the
[Help] command from the STAR Atlas:PRO™ main menu which will now open the
User Manual in Adobe® Acrobat
Reader.
