Transit Times of Jupiter's Great Red Spot.

STAR Atlas:PRO™ uses the current Longitude of the Great Red Spot (GRS) to calculate Transit times (the time when observers will see the GRS crossing the centre of Jupiter's disc). Accordingly it is important to keep this value updated in STAR Atlas:PRO for the most accurate predictions.

The longitude of Jupiter's Great Red Spot (GRS) slowly changes with time, therefore using an old value for the current GRS Longitude will result in a proportional error, but still provide Transit Times close to the actual time. In any case, observers should prepare for Transit, several minutes or more prior to the predicted GRS transit time.

If you are unsure how to set the GRS Longitude in STAR Atlas:PRO™ refer to FAQ: How do I update the Longitude of the Great Red Spot on Jupiter ?
